Movies are probably one of my favorite forms of media. I own a bunch of chick flicks and my sweet husband watches them with me and is a good sport about it (speaking of sports, I do watch those with him...). One of my favorite movies is Life is Beautiful starring Roberto Benigni. It is a classic tragicomedy, with a decisive switch from one to the other in the middle of the film. I love this movie because it shows extremes of emotions. It is a WWII film, but different than any WWII film I have seen. A father, out of love for his son, shows complete optimism in the most dire of circumstances--he teaches us to remember that Life is Beautiful.
I too love this movie! I thought the relationship and the "games" the father played with the son to make it not seem so bad were precious. I think that parenting is all about giving of ourselves to our children, to give them the best life they could have.

ReplyDeleteLove this film so much---I have a large plague sitting on a shelf in my kitchen that says "Life is Beautiful" to remind me that life is precious and to make the most of every moment.
